The Highland Dallas is an inspiration: its combination of dark, broody walls and modern furnishings creates the perfect setting for an elegant, moody event. To bring the space to life, we gathered together a team of Dallas’s finest wedding professionals for an inspiration photo shoot!
The wedding ceremony fountain at the Highland Dallas showcases a unique blend of modern lines and traditional stone and wood materials. We threw a an oversized blood orange and flowing greenery garland against the backdrop to create a striking romantic backdrop. The resulting combination of sleek lines and daring floral proposes a bold take on fall.
Local hair and makeup guru Quynh Nguyen expertly accented the bride’s beauty with soft, barely-smokey eyeshadow and a bright blood-orange pout, creating a look that’s sultry and playful at the same time. A fiery jeweled ring and substantial black onyx and diamond drop earrings from Shapiro Diamonds complete the dramatic ensemble.
The stunning low-backed Amanda Wakeley dress, available at Stardust Celebrations in Plano, is a dream come true for the bride who wants to be a little edgy, yet glamorous on her wedding day. The bride’s style is made even more unique by her bouquet, designed by Lizzie Bee’s Flower Shoppe with an unexpected explosion of birds of paradise and berries.
The place setting was set on a low square marble table in a room with coal-black walls and a cozy fireplace, as if the bride would have hidden away here with her groom for an intimate, private meal for two before joining the reception for an all-night dance party. The setting is an eclectic mix of a sparkling geometric charger, earthy black china, and delicately thin flatware. To add texture, we layered a pashmina runner beneath the dishes, and added a warm, overflowing centerpiece to complete the look.
And of course, you can’t forget the details that bring an event to life. The drinks, the shoes, the paper goods – these little things create an event that is unique to the couple. The bold gray letterpress invitations were created by Cotton Paperie, one of my favorite paper goods gems in Dallas!
In creating this design, our team hopes to show clients that it is always possible to create a look that is uniquely yours. When you’re planning your wedding, choose design elements that truly resonate with you, even if they may not immediately seem like a “wedding style.” What textures and colors do you love to see in your home? What about in your wardrobe? Start there, and your event will become a reflection of your life and love!
