Oh no! I'm leaf-ing Dallas (go on and wince - #dadjoke).
It's time to make it official: late 2016 brought a BIG unexpected change to the Francisco family. My husband Matt scored an amazing job in Columbus, Ohio!
As many of you know, Matt has been my biggest support since starting my wedding planning business. Meggie Francisco Events would not exist without him. Some of you have seen my buff hubby unloading and moving heavy decor things on your wedding days (and then moving them over there, and then - wait, over there - perfect, thanks babe!). Others have met him at post-wedding coffees and dinners or networking events. One thing my couples and vendors have always remarked on is what a true team player he has been for my business, and they don't know how right they are. After seeing Matt sacrifice so many weekends and evenings to support my dream, I knew without question we had to jump on it when he got an offer for the perfect next step in his career. And so, we have embarked on a new adventure in a new city!
Of course, leaving Dallas has not been all dahlias and peonies. Over the past 3 years, I've had the privilege of cultivating relationships with some of the most amazing vendors in one of the top wedding markets in the country (nay, the world!). Dallas, Texas has an abundance of top notch wedding talent, with photographers, florists, paper artists and venues that rival the very best in the world. It has been saddening to leave the soil that nurtured me so well. As a wedding planner, my events only look as beautiful as the work my vendor teams create - and Dallas truly spoiled me in this way.
However, this change has presented me with a valuable challenge: it has forced me to evaluate my business carefully. Instead of asking myself, "What would I do differently if I could do it all again?" in merely a theoretical way, I really can do it all again, re-inventing my brand and business to be better and stronger.
While I'm still wrapping my mind around a whole new city (and the idea of cold winters! Brr!), and I don't have all the answers yet, I do know that I'll continue to focus on growing as a destination wedding planner. I believe that travel teaches us so much about the world and about ourselves, and destination weddings inspire me deeply! I have upcoming weddings on the books for Aruba, Colorado, Jamaica and Italy, and I can't wait to make the most of these beautiful celebrations. While planning these destination events, I am excited to strengthen bonds with my beloved vendor friends in Dallas, and to build new meaningful connections here in the midwest!
Stay tuned for more on upcoming changes at Meggie Francisco Events. Until then, enjoy these bits and pieces of a recent weekend hike in Highbanks Metropark in Powell, Ohio. I can't believe the stunning fall scenery in the Columbus area, and can't wait to share more of my journey with you.
