About Columbus Event Planner & Designer MEggie Francisco
I became an event planner in 2013 after a robust corporate career as a leader in hospitality training and organizational change management. While I enjoyed working in the corporate world, I wanted to do something more personal and meaningful. I quickly became a go-to event planner in Dallas, Texas for couples who wanted the very best in service and design for both local and destination weddings.
In 2016, I moved to Columbus, Ohio to support a new job opportunity for my hubby Matt! I'm so excited to share my event planning passion with Ohio. When I'm not planning weddings or other events with my darling clients, I enjoy traveling the world and playing volleyball with my husband, and walking my fluffy talkative husky dogs, Sasha and Lobo.
WHAT MAKES ME DIFFERENT?
Corporate Experience: I have a strong performance history in demanding environments with intense accountability, mentorship and training. These experiences stretched me to become highly responsive to my clients, and I bring that to my event planner role. I get tasks done quickly and put my consulting skills to work to help my clients discover what they really want and need.
Event Industry Education: In 2015, I invested in becoming a Trained Wedding Planner with the American Association of Certified Wedding Planners (AACWP). This is a 40-hour training program that offers mentoring under other top wedding planners. I also attend ongoing events with standard-setting organizations like the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE) and the International Live Events Association (ILEA) to continuously improve my industry knowledge as an event planner.
Worldwide & Top Tier Market Wedding Planning Experience: Working in the Dallas, Texas wedding market presented me with the valuable challenges of a demanding top tier market. I've been featured as a preferred wedding planner at the Four Seasons Las Colinas alongside some the best planners in the country, and I've built rock star wedding vendor teams around the world, from Italy to Lake Tahoe and beyond! EVENT AND WEDDING DESIGN PHILOSOPHY
Every successful event must start with a solid foundation. That means beginning with high event planning standards in the areas of client and vendor communication, timeline management, and budgeting.
I am a devoted and skilled event planner, but I am also an experienced event designer. When it comes to bringing a vision to life, my mindset can be boiled down to one simple mantra:
I already had my wedding. Let's design yours!"
The wedding world often imposes serious aesthetic pressures on couples. Magazines are full of the latest trends, and the latest floral and photography styles are ever-changing. To me, the real fun in event design comes from the challenge of creating something timeless, special and new for every client. I focus on developing elements that fit your true style, not imitating the latest Pinterest or wedding magazine fads. I then execute our design with sound event planning principles.
This results in weddings that make my clients say:
"THIS IS SO US."
Strategically speaking, I believe in the old real estate adage, “Location, location, location!” I help my clients to select wedding locations that match their personality and style - whether that’s in Columbus, Ohio or abroad in Italy. This way, an elegant decor strategy comes together organically, without fuss.
After choosing the perfect location, I get to know my couples - what makes them tick, who they are and who they want to be. I go far beyond favorite colors to learn what types of beauty speaks to them, and then bring that essence to life on their wedding day.

What I believe
Because event planners are team leaders, I believe it’s our responsibility to uphold high standards of accountability for ourselves and the teams that become our partners. These are my business ethics:
Honor people, cultures, and traditions. I love celebrating multicultural wedding ceremonies and I'm always excited to learn new things about how people celebrate love!
Support the entire team. As an event planner, I’ve found the most effective and meaningful practice is to act as a servant leader. This means I ask my teams, "What can I do for you?" To me, it's not enough to treat only the guests of honor with warmth. I show love, care and respect to vendors and family members, too.
Respect the budget. I provide sound event planning education throughout the process, and sometimes this means I educate my clients when a more expensive option will result in better value and event execution. However, I never pressure couples to pay for things they don't need, I negotiate when appropriate, and I always strive to find creative budget solutions. Your event planner should always be on your side like this!
Out of respect to my clients and vendor partners, I never accept behind-the-scenes vendor commissions. Ever. I believe event planners should be fully transparent about the costs of your event.
Be responsible. I carry general and professional liability insurance for my event planning business.
Pay fair wages for good work. I do not use unpaid interns at my events.
Love is love. I support marriage equality and welcome LGBTQ+ couples.
